Hey, in this short video we’re hanging out in the kitchen where I’m going to share with you a natural remedy for fighting inflammation.

Let me share with you a really powerful natural anti-inflammatory. It’s this orange spice called turmeric, which is commonly used in Indian cuisine.

Now, the active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin, and that is what creates the anti-inflammatory properties. When we talk about dosage for this, you want to be taking about 500 to 1000 mg of curcumin a day to start getting some active benefits. Each teaspoon of turmeric is going to have about 200 mg so you are looking to take between 3 to 5 tsp of turmeric a day to start seeing some benefits.

What are some ways that we can start getting that into our diet? Well, it’s become really popular in the last few years to have things like chai turmeric lattes, or golden milk as it’s commonly referred to at cafes. So when you’re out and about, look for turmeric teas, turmeric lattes, and you can start ordering those.

Let me share with you now a simple golden milk tea recipe that you can make at home.

If you find that that’s a little bit too much trouble, companies are also making pre-done golden lattes, so they’ve got all the ingredients in there for you and you just add that to your favorite liquid, that is another way. Obviously you can start cooking also with turmeric and adding it to your food.

One thing to keep in mind, if you haven’t used it before, please be aware it does stain light colored things, so if you’ve got light colored clothes on, get some protection. You’re benching your tabletops, just be aware of that. If they’re light colored, you may need to get some bicarb soda and some elbow grease.

The other way that we can get some turmeric or the active ingredient curcumin into our lifestyle is through a supplement.

So in the description above, I’ll have a link to my favorite supplement.

One really cool thing about curcumin is that it has been shown to help Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor, or BDNF for short. And why is this such a cool thing? Well, it’s such a cool thing because BDNF is actually helping the brain make new connections. So it’s really important as we age for things like our memory and to keep our cognitive abilities nice and sharp.

So another bonus besides the anti-inflammatory properties for getting some turmeric into your diet.

If you enjoyed this video and you know someone who could benefit from this natural anti-inflammatory tip, then share it on your timeline, you never know who you could help.

Thanks again for watching and I’ll speak to you soon.
